Double Danish Craftmanship - Floor malted and direct-fire pot still distilled rye whisky. Matured in virgin American Oak white oak and finished in a first-fill gløgg cask from our very own Gløgg Champ, Carl Wrangel.

The Stauning Gløgg was sold out officially, but we decided last minute to bottle the last 20L we had saved for ourselves so that you can try both together.

In Denmark we have a long tradition for producing gløgg - something to keep us warm during the cold winter months.
In the late summer of 2023 Stauning asked Carl to make 200 liters of his signature gløgg - but base it on Stauning Rye instead of the usual brandy fortification. The gløgg was aged in a Stauning Rye cask and bottled just before Christmas 2023. To go full circle the now ex-gløgg cask was filled with mature Stauning Rye whisky - and we proudly present the bottled result:

BEWARE NON-CHILL FILTERED: We decided to bring the ABV down to 43% alc. to enhance the fruity and spicy character and make it palatable for a wider audience. This however means that the whisky will show visible flocculation - this is perfectly natural. Infact the presense of fatty acids, oils, and esters that would normally be removed by chill filtration is a sign of quality - and means that the whisky is packed with flavor, richness, and a wonderful creamy mouthfeel. Shake the bottle like a snow globe and the flocculation disolves and pour yourself a special unfiltered dram full of christmassy flavors :)

Maturing in a gløgg casks adds layers of complexity and depth to the whisky. Expect notes of vanilla, cherry, caramel, apple, orange peel, cinnamon, cardamom and cloves. The profile is fruity, spicy and smooth.
