Port Askaig 8 Year Old, Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky (45,8%, 70cl)
Port Askaig 8 Years Old is a single malt whisky from the island of Islay in western Scotland. The exact distillery behind this bottling is unknown, but rumors suggest Caol Ila as the top contender. It certainly has the same semi-powerful smoke and citrus character. Regardless of its origin, it’s a brilliant whisky! Bottled at 45.8% alcohol, it is non-chill filtered and has no added coloring.
The color is a pale gold. The aroma features smoke and crisp citrus notes, enveloping a core of fresh fruit and malt. The taste includes honeysuckle, sea salt, licorice, and peat.
About Port Askaig
Port Askaig whiskies, named after a town on Islay’s east coast, are crafted by Elixir Distillers, founded by Sukhinder and Rajbir Singh of The Whisky Exchange. Known for their smoke, seaweed, and tar flavors, these whiskies feature contributions from nearby distilleries Caol Ila and Bunnahabhain. Elixir Distillers, previously Specialty Drinks, blends traditional craftsmanship with innovation across various spirits, including Scotch, Japanese, Irish, and American whiskies, as well as tequila and rum. Notable brands include Elements of Islay and Black Tot. In 2018, Elixir Distillers announced plans for a new distillery on Islay’s south coast, promising a bright future for peat enthusiasts.
