8 Years and 8 months in barrels.

Rancho El Carrizal was nicknamed, "La Langacha" (the strip) by Don Felipe Camarena because the parcel is long and thin. He joked that it could be jumped over. It is 2 miles west of the town of Arandas in the "Golden Triangle" or "Grand Cru" of agave growing. It is a 4.5 acre ranch surrounded by pines and elms. At 1978 meters altitude it has the typical red-oxide soil characteristic of the "Highlands of Jalisco".

The agave was harvested in December 2008, the distillate was put in 200L "fatigued" former American Whiskey barrels in July 2009 and bottled November 2018.

No filtratation of any kind has been done to retain maximum agave flavor.

After tasting all the barrels individually it was decided to release the bottles as Single Barrel. 1500 bottles were released in total making it the the oldest and rarest Ocho release to date.

Due to a very limited quantity of this bottle, we only have 1, no discount codes apply.

Distillery La Alteña, a 15 min drive from the town of Arandas, is a family owned production plant that spans over 3 generations. Traditional methods are still employed in every stage of processing which result in tequilas that represent the agave of the region and their over 75 year old house yeast culture. They have proved themselves in maintaining a high quality product profile, which has attracted interest of other producers to utilise their skills to process select agave and release these specialties under different labels.
