It is similar to Tawny Port in production, appearance and flavor, but the key difference is that Colheita is the product of a single vintage and can therefore show considerable variation from year to year. It is aged in wood for at least seven years, giving it a nutty, oxidized character.
Aroma
Rich and deep - with caramel, lightly spiced hazelnuts and figs.
Flavor Dark and spicy - notes of sweet red berries are balanced by a light and fresh acidity like that found in orange peel.
Finish Long - with a persistent note of fresh green grapes and mild spices.
