In an era where vodka has become synonymous with industrial neutrality, Wodka Sangaste 800 emerges as a defiant return to the spirit’s artisanal roots. Distilled from 100% organic Sangaste winter rye—a heritage grain bred in 19th-century Estonia—this is vodka as it was meant to be: unfiltered, full of character, and alive with terroir.
Master distiller Sven Ivanov helms one of the world’s oldest vodka distilleries, where precision replaces filtration. The rye is mashed, fermented for 72 hours, and slowly distilled in column stills to 96.7% ABV, then rested six months before being cut to Estonia’s traditional 50% drinking strength with water from the Pandivere plateau. The result? A vodka that celebrates its grain rather than erasing it: aromas of freshly milled rye and aniseed lead to a palate of black pepper, toasted bread, and a mineral crispness, finishing with a warmth that lingers like Baltic twilight.
Bottled unfiltered to preserve every nuance, this is vodka as cultural reclamation—a rejection of industrialized neutrality in favor of craft, history, and taste.
