Domaine Balansa, Coume de Maliès, 2024, Natural White Wine, France (13%, 75cl)

Coume de Maliès is a bright and quietly complex white wine that reflects both its high altitude vineyards and the calm confidence of Domaine Balansa’s winemaking. The aroma is subtle and layered, with soft floral notes, hints of citrus peel and a gentle herbal character. On the palate, the wine is fresh and precise, with a rounded texture balanced by a light mineral grip and a clean, refreshing finish.

The vineyards are located inland from the Mediterranean in the Hautes Corbières, close to the Spanish border and at elevated altitude. This cooler setting allows the grapes to retain freshness while developing depth and character. The wine feels balanced and natural, with clarity rather than power, making it easy to enjoy while still offering plenty to discover.

The blend is based on Grenache Blanc and Grenache Gris, supported by Carignan Blanc, Carignan Gris and Rolle. The wine is certified organic and biodynamic, made with minimal intervention. Most of the wine is aged in stainless steel to preserve freshness, with a smaller portion aged in terracotta amphorae to add gentle texture and structure.

A versatile white that works beautifully as an aperitif and pairs easily with seafood, vegetables, salads and soft cheeses.
