Katsumi Komagata, Wave
Similar to the Chichibu Wine Cask of the Antipodes Collection, this expression was aged in a cask that previously held Japanese white wine made from Koshu grapes. The spirit is made with Odyssey barley and the aromas reflect its rustic and barnyard character, taking us on a journey through the fields. With only 274 bottles in this batch, the official tasting notes describe a lively and distinguished nose with a hint of pepper, heat, lemon, and vanilla. On the palate, it is full-bodied and intense with a beautiful chocolate and malt bitterness, followed by delicate floral and exotic fruit notes. The finish is long and rich, boasting concentrated flavors of fruit, spices, and honey, with a touch of medicinal, creamy, and rustic elements. The dense aftertaste reveals hints of liquorice and noble spices.
