Bois Durand 2024 – Saumur Blanc (Chenin Blanc, AOC)

From the chalky hillsides of Parnay in the Loire Valley comes “Bois Durand”, a beautifully balanced Chenin Blanc from the AOC Saumur Blanc appellation. The vines, aged between 10 and 40 years, grow on alluvial terraces and slopes with breathtaking views of the Loire River. This terroir—clay-limestone soils over turonian chalk—provides the perfect foundation for Chenin’s characteristic tension and elegance.

Farmed using certified organic methods, the vineyard is managed with care and intention: every other row is grass-covered to enhance biodiversity, and the soil is worked shallowly to aerate and protect the roots. Harvesting is done by hand, preserving grape integrity from vine to press.

After pneumatic pressing, the juice ferments naturally in 4–5-year-old 600L barrels, maintaining purity and complexity. The wine rests for 10 to 12 months on fine lees in the estate’s cool underground cellars, allowing the natural aromas to shine.

In the glass, Bois Durand is bright and clear, straw-yellow with golden reflections. Aromatically, it’s intense and expressive, with notes of white flowers, citrus, and ripe quince. The palate is clean and vibrant, supported by a refreshing acidity and a long, elegant finish with hints of linden blossom and citrus peel.
