Bottled from carefully selected casks – a soft and surprisingly sweet whiskey that can be favorably compared to the sister release Ben Nevis 10YO.

Aroma
Caramel and vanilla sweetness with a mild breath of wood and barley.

Taste
Ripe pears and apricots, followed by malt and sweetness.

Finish
Soft and creamy - especially here the dish is clearly felt.

In general
Along with the reissue of 10YO also comes Coire Leis (Pronounced somewhat à la: ”kå-rie lé-sh”). Where the 10YO is the standard Ben Nevis release, the Coire Leis is a more experimental bottling, taken from selected bourbon and oak casks.

The result is a unique and surprisingly sweet whiskey that lends itself well to comparison with its sister release.

The bottle's title "Coire Leis" is the Scottish-Celtic name for a beautiful rock formation on Ben Nevis mountain.

Tasting notes
On the nose, you meet toffee and honey-sweet vanilla. You can also sense the oak, and finally the scent turns into a sweet barley taste.

The first thing you notice in the taste are fresh, ripe pears and apricots, followed by malt and sweetness.

The aftertaste is soft, rounded and creamy, and bears a clear impression of the barrel.

The distillery
Ben Nevis is one of Scotland's oldest existing distilleries. It was founded way back in 1825, and is located at the foot of the mountain it is named after. Ben Nevis (that is, the mountain) is, with its 1345 meters, the highest mountain in the whole of Great Britain.

The distillery was founded by 'Long' John McDonald. Got his nickname because of his (for the time) unusual height of 1.90cm.

Today, the distillery produces both Single Malt, Blended Malt and Blended Whisky.
