Silvio Carta Bitteroma Bianco is a contemporary white bitter liqueur produced by the family owned Silvio Carta distillery in Zeddiani, located in the notable Sardinia region of Italy. Founded in the 1950s, the estate is highly celebrated for capturing the wild, aromatic terroir of the Mediterranean scrub through traditional distillation.
The production focuses on a meticulous infusion of local, wild Sardinian botanicals harvested directly from the island. The ingredient profile centers around classic bitter roots, intense Mediterranean herbs, citrus peels, and a distinct presence of fresh lemongrass. It is blended and brought to an exact 25.3% ABV before being bottled in a large 100cl format, featuring an artistic label that references early twentieth century Italian Futurism.
The profile is viscous, bold, and heavily aromatic, departing from traditional red amari with its bright straw yellow color and golden reflections. The nose is incredibly generous, opening with clear herbaceous hints, slightly honeyed wildflower notes, and a strong, lifting breeze of fresh lemongrass. On the palate, the liquid is thick and explosive, engaging the mouth with a complex interplay of bitter herbs and zesty citrus oils, backed by an underlying soft sweetness. The finish is remarkably long, clean, and self centered, leaving a persistent trail of herbal bitterness that completely refreshes the taste buds.
