RB Rey Añejo offers a beautifully structured, deeper meditation on the lowlands style from the historic Casa Reyes Barajas distillery. Made from single-estate blue Weber agave slow-roasted in traditional brick hornos for up to thirty-six hours, the core agave sweetness is fully retained before undergoing double distillation in copper pot stills. The spirit then spends an extended period maturing in carefully selected American white oak barrels, developing a sophisticated maturity while staying firmly rooted in its agave origin.
The nose is complex and inviting, revealing layers of warm caramel, toasted oak, dried fruits, and a hint of dark chocolate overlaying the vegetal sweetness of the plant. On the palate, it feels rich and full-bodied, effortlessly weaving notes of buttery vanilla, warm baking spices, and soft wood tannin with the earthy, peppery foundations of the valley. It culminates in a long, velvety finish, creating a superb sipping tequila that rewards patience.
