Longrow Red 11 Years, Cabernet Franc Matured, Campbeltown Scotch Whisky (55.9%, 70cl)

The Longrow Red 11 Years Old Cabernet Franc Matured was released in 2018 as part of Springbank Distillery’s annual Longrow Red series, and represents the sixth wine-cask-influenced edition in that highly collectible line. This expression was matured for nine years in ex-bourbon barrels before spending two years in South African Cabernet Franc red wine casks, then bottled at 55.9% ABV. 

The whisky shows the robust peated character Longrow is known for, balanced by the influence of Cabernet Franc maturation. On the nose you’ll find earthy peat smoke, dark berries and dried herbs, followed by a palate that blends rich fruit, spice, tannins and charred wood with Longrow’s signature oily texture and lingering finish. Bottled at natural strength, it can be enjoyed neat or with a few drops of water to uncover additional subtleties.

Produced in very limited quantities, only around 9,000 bottles were released worldwide, this Cabernet Franc edition quickly became a favourite among collectors and peat lovers across Denmark and the EU.  While the Longrow Red series was cherished for its wine cask experimentation, it was discontinued prior to 2025 and has since been succeeded by a new Longrow 100° Proof series.
