Benromach 12 Years Exclusively Sherry Cask Matured Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky is an artisanal expression produced at the historic Benromach Distillery in Forres, situated in the Speyside region of Scotland. Owned by independent bottlers Gordon & MacPhail, Benromach is renowned for reviving the classic Speyside style of the mid 20th century, which features a subtle trace of peat smoke alongside rich malt and cask character.

The production relies on barley malted with a light touch of peat smoke. For this specific 12 year old expression, the spirit is matured exclusively in first fill Oloroso sherry casks for its entire aging duration. This full term maturation allows the heavy Spanish oak to deeply interact with the spirit over twelve years. Bottled at 46% ABV without chill filtration and with natural color, it showcases a seamless integration of dark sherry fruit, warm oak spice, and classic faint campfire smoke.

The profile is rich, complex, and beautifully balanced between sweet sherry influence and subtle smoke. The nose opens with inviting aromas of dark stewed plums, candied orange peel, fruitcake, and warm cinnamon, backed by a delicate trace of wood smoke and toasted leather. On the palate, the texture is soft and coating, delivering rich flavors of dark chocolate, dried raisins, marzipan, and clove, followed by mid palate notes of roasted nuts and sweet tobacco. The finish is long, warming, and satisfying, leaving lingering trails of sherry oak, bitter cocoa, and faint peat smoke.
