Amaro occupies a realm beyond simple categorization. While its name declares "bitter," this Italian-inspired elixir shares little with the sharper herbal liqueurs of northern Europe. The difference lives in its sun-warmed botanicals - where Alpine spirits offer crisp evergreen notes, proper amari embrace the golden warmth of Mediterranean orchards and spice bazaars. More important than definition is intention: will it clear the palate before dinner as an aperitivo, or settle the stomach after as a digestivo?

A Harmonious Alchemy
Distiller Thomas Neubert and barkeeper Oliver Ebert have composed this expression firmly in the aperitivo tradition. Three bitter pillars form its foundation: the herbal intensity of wormwood, the quinine bite of cinchona bark, and the earthy depth of gentian root. These are softened by the sweet warmth of Ceylon cinnamon and the subtle heat of cloves, while macerated bitter orange peel and fresh peach juice lend a sunlit counterpoint. The result lives perfectly balanced between bite and bouquet.

The Art of Enjoyment
On the palate, the journey moves from initial herbal bitterness through a crescendo of stone fruit sweetness, finishing with lingering spice and vanilla. This complexity makes it equally splendid sipped neat with ice to soften its edges, or shining in cocktails where it brings depth to Negronis and effervescence to prosecco spritzes. Each bottle captures the patience of Mediterranean afternoons and the precision of German craftsmanship.
